SEIU 721

Bob Schoonover is the President of SEIU Local 721, the largest public sector union in Southern California. Bob was elected to the presidency of Local 721 after rising up through the union ranks. He has been a heavy duty equipment mechanic with the City of Los Angeles since 1979.

Bob first became active with his union during a city-wide strike in 1980. Since that time, he has served as a union steward and elected bargaining team member. In these roles, his goal has always been to win strong contracts that protect quality public services and the workers who provide them.

In addition to his work at Local 721, Bob also was elected twice to the SEIU International Executive Board. He was founding chair of the SEIU Republican Committee. He was also elected to the California Labor Federation, the Los Angeles County Labor Federation and the Los Angeles City Board of Deferred Compensation Administration.
